407 ETR Toll Rate Increases Take Effect Feb. 1

Heavy tractor-trailer units will be charged nearly 14 cents/km more to travel on sections of the 407 ETR Highway when increases to tolls and fees come into effect on February 1, 2015.

The Peak Period toll rate for heavy multiple unit vehicles travelling in the ‘Regular Zone’  (between the QEW in Burlington and Highway 410 and between Highway 427 and Brock Road in Pickering) will increase from between 84.90-90.60 cents/km to between 91.60-104. 19 cents/km, depending on the time of day and on/off peak hours.

In the ‘Light Zone’ (between Highway 410 and Highway 427) the rate will jump from 80.70-86.10 cents/km to as much as 87.15 – 99.04 cents/km,  depending on the time of day and on/off peak hours.

Midday rates for the entire highway usage during weekdays jumps from  72.18 c/km to 77.25 c/k; while the off-peak rate increases from 58.05 c/km to 59.22 c/km.

Heavy single vehicles will also see rate hikes. For the Regular Zone, tolls go up from between 56.60 – 60-40 c/km to as much as 61.12 – 69.46, depending on the hour of day. Light Zone prices increase from between 53.80 – 57.40 c/km to as much as 66.02 c/km, depending on the day and time.

Meanwhile, changes to the 2015 Toll Rate Schedule also include:

  • The Monthly Transponder Lease Fee will be $3.55.
  • The Monthly Video Account Fee will be $3.55.
  • The Video Toll Charge for light vehicle customers without a transponder will be $4.00.

The annual transponder lease fee remains $21.50. An additional transponder remains $1 per month.

A Trip Toll Charge applies to every trip on the highway based on vehicle size:

  • Light Vehicles will be charged 90 cents per trip.
  • Heavy Single Unit Vehicles will be charged $1.80 per trip.
  • Heavy Multiple Unit Vehicles will be charged $2.70 per trip.

When the entry or exit of a vehicle is not recorded, a calculated toll will be applied.

Also, effective February 1, 2015, 407 ETR may apply a Dormant Account Fee of up to $15 annually where an account has a credit balance for 3 years or more.  The fee is not retroactive and does not apply to any account with a credit balance prior to February 1, 2015.
