OTA Allied Trades member, Trailcon Leasing, opened its doors this week to spectacular, brand new state-of-the-art headquarters in Brampton, Ont.
More than triple the size of the company’s previous facility, the new $22 million, 30,000 sq.-ft. building (15 Spar Drive, Brampton) is the new home to more than 100 staff and technicians.
President Al Boughton said at the official grand opening on Friday that the company needed to move from its Mississauga building because of rapid growth in recent years and expectations for future expansion going.
Boughton told trade media that he personally worked with the designers and builders to ensure the facility was created with his employees and customers in mind. He added that he insisted builders used as many materials as they could.
The new, spacious facility takes advantage of large open spaces and plenty of natural light. On top of all modern office space, the facility also includes a protected, 15-acre outdoor work area for technicians that accommodates 41 trailers at a time as well as a large comfortable driver’s lounge with food, recliners, washrooms and a TV
On hand for the grand opening – which included food, guided tours and a media Q&A were OTA’s David Bradley, John Snobelen, former Ontario cabinet minister, Patrick Brown, leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, Bal Gosal, Member of Parliament for Bramalea-Gore-Malton, among others.
“It gives me great pleasure to congratulate you and the rest of the Trailcon team on the grand opening of your new state-of-the-art Brampton facility,” said Bradley. “Through your leadership, Trailcon has grown from an idea into a respected, major national organization that provides essential, high quality services to motor carriers from across Canada. Your name and that of Trailcon is synonymous with integrity, commitment and entrepreneurship. With the opening of your new facility you are signalling your continued optimism and commitment to your customers, your industry and your employees.”
Trailcon was established in 1992 by Boughton as the company’s sole employee. Trailcon now boasts well over 100 employees and has a fleet of more than 6,500 units which service for-hire carriers, private fleets and some of the largest grocery and retail chains in Canada.
