 Spring 2026 Highway Load Restrictions North Region – Huntsville, North Bay, Sault Ste Marie, and Sudbury areas. 

Effective Monday, March 9, 2026 at 12:01 a.m. Reduced Load Restrictions will go into effect on designated highways under Schedule 2 and Local Roads Boards roads under Schedule 3 located in Area 2, Zone 2B and Area 3, Zone 3. 

Area 2 is comprised of Zones 2A and 2B as illustrated on the linked map. Reduced loads are effective in 2B.

Raw Forest Products Freeze up Period – Termination:

AREA 2 

Zone 2a and 2b 

DESIGNATION OF THE TERMINATION OF THE FREEZE-UP PERIOD PURSUANT TO SECTION 119 (2) OF THE HIGHWAY TRAFFIC ACT 

The termination of the freeze-up allowance contained in Section 119 (2) of the Highway Traffic Act will commence on the Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11.59 p.m. for those parts of Ontario situated: 

Area # 2 – Zone 2a 

Within an area bounded by a straight line along the western Algoma District Boundary from the north shore of Lake Superior northerly intersecting Highway 17, at approximately 6 kilometres west of the junction of Highways 17 and 631, and Northerly through Highway 11, approximately 2 kilometres west of the Pagwachuan River, to the 50th degree north latitude, thence, due east in a straight line to the Quebec border including all Ontario highways north of Highway 11, thence, southerly along the Quebec Border to the south side of Highway 65, thence, along and including all of Highway 65 to Highway 560, thence westerly along and including all of Highway 560 to the Sultan Industrial Road, thence, along and including the Sultan Industrial Road to Highway 667, thence, along and including all of Highway 667 to Highway 129, thence, north westerly to Highway 101the western boundary at Highway 17, thence westerly in a straight line to the Algoma District Boundary. 

Area # 2 – Zone 2b 

Within an area south of King’s Highway 101, east of the Algoma District Boundary, west of the Ottawa River and north of a boundary line extending along the north shore of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay from Sault Ste. Marie to Port Severn (including St. Joseph Island and Manitoulin Island); thence in a straight line from Port Severn to the Seven Bridge on Highway 11; thence in a straight line from the Severn Bridge to Highway 35 at Minden thence northerly including Highway 35 to Highway 60, thence easterly on and including Highway 60 to Cache Lake thence, in a straight line excluding Highway 60 through Pembroke to the Ottawa River. 

 Spring 2026 Highway Load Restrictions Eastern Region Zone 3 

The spring 2026 reduced load restrictions will be in effect for all provincial highways in Schedule 2 within the Bancroft area at 12:01 am on March 9, 2026
