The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) applauded the City of Hamilton for committing to stakeholder outreach in conducting a truck route master plan review.
The OTA has many members who operate within or service the Hamilton business community. Every segment of the Hamilton business community relies on the services of the trucking industry. Our membership has much expertise to offer to ensure this review process generates a comprehensive understanding of the issues involved as well as the potential outcomes of future recommendations,” OTA wrote in a letter to Mayor Fred Eisenberger.
OTA looks forward to working with staff and council to review the truck route master plan to ensure a balance among business interests, neighbourhood issues and commercial traffic is maintained and consequences of all potential actions are made known to council in advance of potential amendments.
Meanwhile, OTA continues to press for more involvementin the City of Thunder Bay’s plans for a new truck route. While OTA remains against that controversial decision, it says it’s important the industrybe afforded the opportunity to participate in discussions concerning the drafting of the bylaw and is hopeful for more open and transparent consultation.
