Although OTA’s original smash hit took a pause in 2020, the Next Generation Certificate Program is back with an exciting new virtual format for 2021 – with all the same content and interactivity you have come to expect from the industry’s trademark leadership communication program.
Delivered by the highly esteemed Humphrey Group, the program was developed in partnership with OTA members as an intensive leadership communication course for the future leaders of the trucking industry. The four-part certificate program is to strengthen a leader’s ability to communicate effectively and inspire action in others they work with – from drivers, to customers, to executive teams.

Registration in the four-part virtual learning experience will consist of:
- Pre-session virtual videos to enhance your learning outcomes and experience;
- Four interactive 90-minute virtual modules facilitated live by the Humphrey Group. These focused sessions will allow participants to learn and retain information more easily, while accommodating the flow of a busy work schedule;
- The modules also include breakout sessions where participants are paired in smaller group where they can connect with others, discuss, and share their own experiences in the workplace;
- Thirty minutes of one-on-one virtual coaching time with an instructor from the Humphrey Group to focus on your personal communication goals;
- 365-day access to all learning resources that participants can use as a sustained learning tool.
Going into its eighth year, the program has served as an indispensable platform for young professionals to connect with others in the industry, while learning valuable tools to improve their leadership communication skills in the workplace. To date the program has seen over 200 graduates.
OTA members with terminals in provinces across Canada are encouraged to enroll their employees to take advantage of this unique opportunity to connect with young leaders from across the country through the virtual format for 2021.
Eligible members can register at a cost of $1100 for the virtual Next Generation Certificate Program, a savings of $750. OTA continues to work with its LEAD committee on the development of a one or two-day program in partnership with the Schulich School of Business, which is targeted at graduates of the Next Generation program. The session is tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2021 and will act as placeholder until the regular format for the OTA-SEEC Leaders Certificate Program can be reintroduced in 2022.
