The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has advised OTA that work on the Pic River and Gravel Ridge bridges on Highway 17 east of Nipigon will not be completed this year. As a result, there will be single lane detours controlled by traffic signals at these two structures which are located on Highway 17 between White River and Nipigon.
The Pic River Bridge will have a temporary single lane modular bridge in place throughout the 2015-2016 winter season, while the Gravel Ridge Bridge on Highway 17 east of Nipigon will be reduced to a single lane with temporary concrete barriers and traffic signals this winter.
While MTO has committed to placing high priority on winter maintenance in these locations, carriers may wish to examine their operations through this area over this coming winter season.
