The Ministry of Transportation advises the motoring public and transporters that Highway 17 is fully closed at the Jackfish River Bridge to facilitate emergency bridge repairs. The Jackfish River Bridge is located on Highway 17, approximately 13 km east of Nipigon.
Travellers may utilize Highway 11 and Highway 631 as an alternate route between Nipigon and White River.
MTO apologizes for the inconvenience and says it’s working to complete the repairs as soon as possible. It estimates the highway will reopen by this Thursday, June 26, subject to an engineering review of the bridge.
For the latest information on highway closures, the public can call 511, MTO’s Road Information Line or check www.ontario.ca/511.
