As part of the Michigan Interchange component of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project, select roadways need to be closed and reconstructed. Bridging North America (BNA) would like to alert you of upcoming roadwork in southwest Detroit that may affect your facilities. This letter is consistent with established notification practices on the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.
Starting January 27, 2023, at 9 p.m. Bridging North America will temporarily close the following sections of Fort Street to support the foundation work for the US Port of Entry ramps. These closures will be in place until January 30, 2023, at 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
- All lanes of Fort Street will close at night starting at 9 p.m. between Livernois Avenue and Campbell Street.
- The right lane of westbound Fort Street will close between Campbell Street and Morrell Street.
- The right lane of eastbound Fort Street will close at West End Street.
- The right lane and left turn center lane of westbound Fort Street will close between Dragoon Street and Campbell Street from January 28 – 29, 2023, between 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily as needed.
- The right lane of eastbound Fort Street will close at West End Street from January 28 – 29, 2023, between 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily as needed.
- Detour routes are in place and include the following:
Traffic on Fort Street to the west of the work zone will be detoured south to take West End Street southbound, east on Jefferson Avenue, north on Clark Street, then to Fort Street.
Traffic on Fort Street to the east of the work zone will be detoured south to take Junction Street southbound, west on Jefferson Avenue, north on West End Street, then to Fort Street.
