The Zavitz family announced with great sadness the passing of Ontario trucking pioneer Keith Zavitz at the age of 90. He was surrounded by his family.
Keith served as a longtime member of the OTA Board member, and leaves behind a proud legacy in the Transportation industry in the Niagara Region. He and his brother Homer established Zavitz Brothers Ltd. in the 1950’s.
He was a veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy in WWII, and an active member of the Wainfleet Lions Club. He was an avid sporstsman, golfer and he loved to travel.
Keith lived a full healthy life leaving a wonderful legacy . He was an inspiration to all who knew him for his strong work ethic, his sense of adventure and his devotion to his family.
Keith leaves behind his beloved wife Irene, and his sons Randy (Fran), Dan (Peggy), Greg (Nancy), Kirk (Jocelyn), and Penny (Johan). He was a loving stepfather to Tess (Wayne), Barry and Phil Asselin. He also leaves many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Keith was predeceased by his first wife of 57 years, Roberta, his grandson Derek, and his brothers Gerald, Homer and his sister Rena.
Family and friends met to Celebrate his life and Achievements of Sunday February 28 at Amici’s Banquet Centre at 2740 Merrittville Highway, Thorold from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
