Truckers Input Needed on Niagara & Durham Transportation Plans

Share

Niagara Region is currently consulting on the development of Transportation Master Plan. Included in the plan will be consideration for the goods movement industry, including the trucking sector. If carriers are interested in providing input directly to the Region, there are four upcoming public consultation sessions being held.

  • February 21 – Welland (Civic Square)
  • February 22 – St. Catharines (Kiwanis Aquatic Centre)
  • March 2 – Niagara Falls (Gale Centre)
  • March 1 – Grimsby (Council Chambers)

All public information centres are 5:30 to 8 p.m. with the main presentation starting at 6:30 p.m.

This is a good opportunity for interested carriers to show support for infrastructure initiatives that provide better connections to Provincial highway system, international border crossings and for truck activity in Niagara Region.

Durham Region Seeking Input on Goods Movement Planning

As well, consultants working on behalf of Durham Region have reached out to OTA to seek feedback on key aspects of their Transportation Master as it relates to Goods Movement.

Details of the plan that look out to 2031 are included in the following PDF: regional-municipality-of-durham-information-partial-report_public

Carriers located in Durham Region or those who have significant operations in the area interested in providing feedback can do so by emailing OTA at operations&safety@ontruck.org with their comments, no later than February 17, 2017.
