Rankin Construction Inc. has been awarded a Ministry of Transportation of Ontario Contract #2023-2003 to perform concrete base repairs and resurface Highway 405 in both direction from QEW to Queenston Lewiston Plaza. This is a 2 year contract with anticipated completion at end of construction season in 2024.
Construction activities are to begin on site on August 21,2023 on Highway 405 Westbound direction between Queenston Lewiston Plaza up to westerly of Stanley Avenue. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane between August 21stto September 4 2023 for a period of approximately 2 weeks.
Also planned is closure and detour the Highway 405 WB traffic (Canada Bound) on Portage road commencing Tuesday September 5 (after Labour day Long weekend). This will be Westbound Detour Plan. Highway 405 Westbound traffic is being detoured past the Queenstown/Lewiston Bridge Tolls onto Portage Road and traffic will be getting back on Highway 405 Westbound using the on ramp past Stanley Avenue
A second detour will be in effect on September 5 – closing Portage Rd Westbound -from the Roundabout at Niagara Parkway to access point of the Westbound traffic coming from Queenston / Lewiston Bridge. This detour will take traffic utilizing Niagara Parkway to York Road(RR81) to 4 Mile Creek Rd (RR100) to Townline Rd at which point traffic will be able to access Highway 405 Westbound. At all times – access will be available to all EMS vehicles such as Ambulances, Fire Department and Police through closed Highway 405 WB or Portage Road WB if required.
