As previously reported by OTA and as highlighted by several mainstream media outlets over the past weeks, the government of Ontario will be implementing some key aspects of its Making Ontario’s Roads Safer Act starting September 1st. These include:
- Increased fines and demerit points for distracted driving;
- The requirement to slow down and move over for tow trucks when engaged in roadside assistance with lights flashing;
- Maintaining a minimum distance of 1 metre from cyclists where possible
