It has come to CTA’s attention that CFIA recently issued restrictions on many poultry products coming into Canada originating from select US states.
Members have reported experiencing lengthy delays at ports of entry into Canada while poultry products are being examined and/or removed.
CTA members may wish to encourage their customers to regularly check CFIA`s website for import restrictions and updates. There is no information at this point as to how long the restrictions on poultry will remain in place.
While delays into the US have also been reported, there are currently no specifics available on the USDA restrictions.
CFIA explains it has implemented the measures to protect Canada’s poultry resources from an outbreak of pathogenic avian influenza reported in poultry in several U.S. states.
Members experiencing delays and other issues at the border are asked to report them to Jennifer at Jennifer.Fox@ontruck.org
