Periodic Champlain Bridge Work, Detours Set Until Nov

Share

Two major work blitzes at the Champlain Bridge will result in detours for travellers between Montreal and Brossard.

Two modular trusses will be installed under the auxiliary girders that straddle Highway 132 in Brossard. To keep traffic flowing in both directions on Highway 132, the following closures and major detours will be implemented the weekend of Oct. 24–25, from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

  • Complete closure of Highway 132 in Brossard in both directions under the bridge
  • Complete closure of Westbound Marie-Victorin Boulevard under the bridge with a detour to maintain traffic flow
  • Closure of two South Shore–bound lanes on the bridge, followed by two Montreal-bound lanes
  • Closure of entrances to Highway 132 West and East from the Champlain Bridge and A-10 West
  • Right lane closed on A-15 North between exit 60 towards Verdun and exit 61 towards Atwater Avenue
  • Complete closure of exit 61 towards Atwater Avenue from A-15 North

A second closure is planned for Nov. 7–8 from 10 p.m. that Friday before to 5 a.m. the following Monday, as four modular trusses will be installed on the downstream side of the Champlain Bridge, resulting in the following traffic restrictions:

  • Complete closure of the Champlain Bridge to Montreal–bound traffic
  • Closure of access ramps to the Champlain Bridge from Highway 132 and A-10 West
  • Left lane closed on A-15 South between exit 61 towards Atwater Avenue and the Nuns’ Island bypass bridge

Work site signage and variable message signs will detail closures and detours. Police will also be present throughout those weekends.

The JCCBI advises drivers to plan their trips in advance and consider other itineraries in order to avoid the Champlain Bridge corridor as much as possible.

The work may be delayed due to weather conditions.
