OTA’s new Compliance and Freight Policy Council (CFPC) will kick things off with an in-person meeting at OTA’s Offices Wednesday March 9. OTA’s newly modernized CFPC – an enhancement of the formerly-known ‘Safety Council’ – will provide networking, meeting and policy discussion opportunities for professionals among the OTA membership interested in driver, infrastructure, carrier and equipment issues. Meetings, which are open to all OTA members, will be held four times per year – two at OTA’s offices and two extended programs at offsite locations which will combine education casual networking and host guest speakers on emerging trends and technology.

The agenda for the first meeting will review the newly developed terms of reference and next steps for the Council. It will also act as a sounding board for new OTA policy development. New and upcoming government policy topics that will be discussed in the coming months, include:

Driver medical standards, electronic logging devices, transportation of dangerous goods, new business practice trends for spec’ing multi-jurisdictional equipment. OTA will also facilitate an open discussion on industry best practices for collision prevention technologies as well as the status of regulatory compliance programs such as CVOR/Facility Audit and infrastructure development in the province with a focus on Northern Ontario Rest Stops for Commercial Vehicles.

Each of the meetings will provide networking and sponsorship opportunities along with lunch and other activities.
