At the time of writing the 401 remains closed in both directions in Pickering.
Detours are in place that divert traffic around the closure. Overhead and variable message signage in the area and on the approaches to Pickering are notifying drivers of the closures and detours.
At this time, OPP and the coroner’s office are still onsite doing their investigation of the collision as are bridge/road engineers doing their assessments. Following these assessments, any necessary repairs to the infrastructure will be made.

The “Traveller Info” section of Ontario 511 has two sources of information that may be of use, including a list of closures that can be searched on the map and as well as MTO’s compass cameras that show live images of the impacted sections of highway.
