OTA Carriers and Staff Meet MPs in Ottawa to Discuss Critical Trucking Issues

OTA carrier members of the Canadian Trucking Alliance and OTA staff kicked off the CTA Board meeting trip in Ottawa with a series of in-person meetings with Ontario MPs. 

The OTA carriers and key staff met separately with Gaetan Malette, Kapuskasing-Timmins-Mushkegowuk; Connie Cody, Cambridge: Chris Lewis, Essex; Philip Lawrence, Northumberland—Clarke; Ruby Sahota, Brampton North—Caledon and federal Secretary of State for Combatting Crime; as well as officials from the US Embassy in Ottawa. 

In every meeting, OTA bolstered its message about combatting illegal trucking and restoring law and order to the industry throughout Ontario; ending labour misclassification and abuse of immigration programs; improving truck safety, strengthening oversight and enforcement and combatting lawlessness in areas like Caledon and Northern Ontario; enhancing border security and efficiency and looking deeper into organized crime and corruption into the trucking & many other topics. 

OTA thanks the MPs who listened attentively to the messages and indicated support for the Association and Alliance.
