“Everyone here shares the same struggles that we face as an industry. We stress the importance of training within our companies all the time, training our mechanics, drivers, safety, and operations; why not start training for our future?”
This was the question Kriska Transportation’s Reagan Seymour posed directly to a room full of trucking industry executives at the OTA annual conference last week.
Speaking at a luncheon ceremony to recognize the graduates of the Next Generation program, and the inaugural class of the OTA-SEEC Leadership Certificate program, Seymour enlightened the audience on all the benefits the group experienced by taking part in these programs.
“These programs have been such a turning point for me in my career of the trucking industry. I have met so many influential & supportive people, which made me want to keep coming back. We couldn’t wait for our next lesson together so we could network with more new people. We all have shared the same struggles and the same success at one point in our careers. Most importantly, we all have shared the same goal through this journey, to become great leaders.”
The Next Generation program is an intensive leadership development initiative for the industry’s future leaders, and delivered by the highly esteemed Humphrey Group, the objective of the four-part certificate program is to strengthen a new leader’s ability to inspire action in others – from drivers, to customers, to executive teams.
Designed to build upon the skills in the Next Generation program, the OTA-Schulich Business Certificate program aims to help participants build business leadership skills, aimed at developing practical tools, improving performance and driving business results.
Both graduating classes comprised 21 up-and-coming industry managers and executives (both carriers and Allied Trades). This format offered graduates an opportunity to learn, network, and meet professionals experiencing similar career growth opportunities and challenges. (See list of graduates below)
