MTO Class Environmental Assessments for Hwy 401 Pavement Rehab

The Ministry of Transportation has announced several Detail Design Study and Environmental Assessments for Highway 401 Pavement Rehabilitations in various regions, including from Gananoque River Bridge to Hwy 137, Hwy. 15 to Joyceville Rd. and from Wyman Rd. to Hwy. 37.

 McIntosh Perry Consulting Engineers Ltd. (MPCE) has been retained to provide all engineering work required for the detail design and preparation of the contract package to undertake pavement rehabilitation of sections of Highway 401:

  • from Gananqoue River Bridge to Highway 137, in the Town of Gananoque and Township of Leeds and The Thousand Islands, for a distance of 15.2 km; and
  • from Highway 137 to Mallorytown Road, in the Township of Leeds and The Thousand Islands and Township of Front of Yonge, for a distance of 14.3 km.
  • Highway 401, from Highway 15 to Joyceville Road, for a distance of 9 km.
  • from west of Wyman Road to Highway 37, in the Township of Tyendinaga and the City of Belleville, for a distance of 19.6 km.

The project work will include milling and paving the existing driving surface, replacement of shoulder rumble strips and pavement markings.  It is anticipated that these projects will require periodic single lane closures.  There will be no designated detour routes. Advanced signing will be placed in strategic locations on the highway advising traffic of the lane closures.

These projects are scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2014.
