The Ford government announced a cabinet shuffle today which would see a number of notable changes. However, Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney, who has worked proactively with the trucking industry on many important trucking policies during her term, remains in her current role. Changes include:
- Dave Piccini, MPP for Northumberland-Peterborough South, becomes Minister of Environment.
- Prabmeet Singh Sarkaria, MPP for Brampton South, becomes President of the Treasury Board.
- Kinga Surma, MPP for Etobicoke Centre, becomes Minister of Infrastructure
- Stan Cho, MPP for Willowdale, becomes Associate Minister of Transportation, reporting to Minister Mulroney
OTA worked closely with Minister’s Surma and Sarkaria on several initiatives in their previous roles, including working to reduce red tape for Ontario trucking companies, and truck safety policies and other important initiatives through the Ministry of Transportation. The association looks forward to continuing to work with them in their new roles.
OTA also looks forward to working with Minister’s Piccini and Cho in their new cabinet positions, and thanks former Minister Jeff Yurek, for his collaboration with OTA in his past roles.
Yurek had previously been the Minister of Transportation, and most recently, the Minster of Environment, but is now out of cabinet.
