Long-haul Drivers Wanted for Health Study

Share

Dr. Paul Gorczynski, a researcher with the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom, is conducting a research project looking at ways that long-haul drivers receive information about health, well-being, and physical activity. The aim of the project is to help improve the quality of information and services made available to drivers so that they can improve their health.

A $25 Tim Horton’s gift card is being offered in exchange for completing an hour-long phone interview. The only requirements are that drivers run long-haul and work for a Canadian company.

Drivers interested in participating in this survey can call Dr. Paul Gorczynski at 647-492-9932 or e-mail him at Paul.gorczynski@port.ac.uk for more information.

In addition to this research, CTA is participating in a Transport Canada-funded working group to determine the best way to design a more holistic study of truck driver health and wellness.  As part of this work, researchers will also explore whether there are specific equipment technologies that can have an immediate positive impact on drivers health and wellness (e.g. better ergonomics).
