LEAD Graduates to OTA Members: Create Your Own Path to Success; Registration Now Open for 2018 Programs

OTA’s Next Gen program has taught me that we do not need to depend on those who came before us to teach us how to be successful in this industry. That we are the creators of our own path, and that we are on this journey together. Not alone, but together.”

Those were the words of ONE for Freight’s Stephanie Carruth as she spoke directly to a room full of trucking industry executives at the OTA annual conference last week.

Speaking at a luncheon ceremony to recognize the graduates of OTA’s Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) programs, both Carruth and Angela Lowe from Heritage Truck Lines Inc. enlightened the audience on the benefits of taking part in the Next Generation Certificate program.

“The connections that I made in this group and the education that I have received from every person in our class has done nothing but encourage, stimulate, and excite me for my future in the transportation industry,” added Lowe.

Lowe also made note of how diverse the transportation industry was becoming, taking pride specifically in “the number of women rocking the transportation industry.”

The Next Generation program is an intensive leadership development initiative for the industry’s future leaders, and delivered by the highly esteemed Humphrey Group, the objective of the four-part certificate program is to strengthen a new leader’s ability to inspire action in others – from drivers, to customers, to executive teams.

Designed to build on the skills in the Next Generation program, the newly developed OTA-SEEC Leaders Certificate program focuses on the theme of innovation, with the intention of creating an innovative mindset within leaders, and using that mindset to drive innovation in the workplace.

Former Next Gen graduate Jean-Sebastien Bouchard from ISAAC Instruments spoke passionately on behalf of the graduating OTA-SEEC class, about the need for all OTA members to strongly consider enrolling graduates of the Next Generation program into the OTA-SEEC Leaders program:

“If you are a member that believe in the growth of our association, think of someone that you see as a future leader of your organization, someone that you wish to invest in, and register them for the 2018 program,” he said.

Both graduating classes comprised 41 up-and-coming industry managers and executives (both carriers and Allied Trades). This format offered graduates an opportunity to learn, network, and meet professionals experiencing similar career growth opportunities and challenges. (See list of graduates below).

The appeal from all three graduates for company CEOs to get employees involved in the program resonated with all in attendance.  So, don’t wait! Send us your best Nextgen and OTA-SEEC candidates. As Angela, Stephanie and Jean-Sebastien promise, it’ll be an investment company owner won’t soon regret, so register now!
