International Bridge customers paying Canadian currency will see the toll rate adjusted due to the low value of the Canadian dollar, the bridge announced this week.
The changes, effective Thursday, Oct. 1, are the result of the currency equity review conducted by bridge officials twice each year.
Starting Oct. 1, trucks will be charged CND $5.65 per axle – up from $5.25 per axle. The passenger vehicle rate will change from $4.10 to $4.40. The U.S. rate remains unchanged at $3.50. This is not a rate increase but a currency exchange adjustment, the bridge explained.
“With the required, semi-annual currency equity review, only Canadian currency toll rates are impacted,” said Phil Becker, International Bridge Administration (IBA) general manager.
