Halton Goods Movement Strategy

The Regional Municipality of Halton is in the early stages of developing a Regional Goods Movement Strategy, which was identified as key need for the region in their Transportation Master Plan – The Road to change officially adopted in 2011.

On June 10, OTA attended the first stakeholder meeting on the development strategy which was attended by both government and industry representatives. The development of this strategy is widely seen as not only key for Halton, but also the GTHA and the province as almost $1 billion in goods flows into, out of and through Halton daily. Furthermore, based on expected population growth, its strategic location and connectivity of the GTHA, a well-developed vision for goods movement in Halton will ultimately come to have wide impacts both within and outside the region.
