The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are organizing a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) enrollment event from April 25 to May 1, 2022, at the Detroit Enrolment Center. More details from CBSA, including registration information is available in French and English here: CBP-detroit_public
The enrollment event is open to all conditionally-approved applicants, including both new applicants and renewing members.
The CBSA has informed the Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) that interviews will run from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Saturday, and from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Sunday, the week of the event. Applicants will be able to book interviews starting the afternoon of April 1.
CTA has worked collaboratively with both CBSA and CBP on the reopening of FAST enrollment centres and organizing FAST events for the industry since the beginning of the pandemic. Previously successful FAST events were held at Fort Erie, ON, Aldergrove, B.C. and most recently at Champlain, NY, with over 2,000 drivers being interviewed in total, significantly reducing the current backlog.
CTA is reminding potential applicants if they enter the United States to complete their interview, they must meet all applicable travel requirements.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents returning to Canada can visit the COVID-19 Travel: Checklists for requirements and exemptions webpage to ensure they meet requirements to enter Canada, including the completion of the ArriveCAN application.
CTA will continue working with agencies on both sides of the border to reduce the backlog of FAST interviews as quickly as possible.
