Since the June 20 announcement by HRSDC that the TFWP program would undergo significant changes, CTA has been working with HRSDC to clarify a number of issues  associated with the program. The webinar will  cover all changes and clarify the complete process for companies who are deemed low or high wage employers.

For example: questions such as how your fleet is considered a high or low wage employer under the new TFWP will be covered by the webinar. This issue was recently clarified with HRSDC.

Under the new program rules, all industries will not be subject entirely to the provincial median job bank number for all occupations and their sector median figure, but rather the median job bank figure for all occupations will act as a benchmark for each individual firm in the economy. Individual companies will then be able to apply to the TFWP based on their own “range” of pay compared to the provincial median job bank number. If the individual company can show they are paying drivers above the provincial job bank median for all occupations, the individual company qualifies as a high wage employer. If the individual company is not paying any of its drivers above the median wage for all occupations, the company is subject to the TFWP rules as a ‘low wage’ employer. In Ontario, for example, the median hourly wage for all sectors of the economy is $21.00

This issue, along with advertising, payment and paperwork requirements for TFWP will be discussed for the different classification of employers. The presentation will last for a half-hour, followed by a question period for carriers seeking further clarification. For more information on the TFWP contact OTA’s jonathan.blackham@ontruck.org
