Wanted: 2022 Drivers of the Year & Truck Heroes. Nominations Now Open

Truck drivers are the lifeblood of our industry. That has never been more apparent than in the last two years when truck drivers stepped up during a crisis to keep Canadians safe and or nation’s economy moving. Any fleet manager knows how critical truck drivers are to driving commerce, building a customer network and representing the industry to the public and decision makers. Now, the public knows as well.

OTA wants to hear stories about our province’s greatest truck drivers. We are accepting applications for both the Volvo Trucks Canada-OTA Driver of the Year Award and the OTA-Bridgestone Truck Hero Award.

Each year the Driver of the Year Award goes to a professional transport driver who has a collision-free driving record and is an exemplary truck driver both on and off the road. While being a safe driver is always important, we are specifically on the lookout for drivers who can be described to go above and beyond on the job and within their community. Perhaps your driver did something exemplary during the pandemic; or served those in need during a national emergency like the BC floods; or maybe he or she is a leader and role model in their community, outside of the truck, volunteering their time to help, coach or mentor others.  If so, we want to know about them.

The winning driver receives a keepsake plaque and a cheque courtesy of Volvo Trucks Canada. The prize also includes a trip to the OTA Convention in Toronto in November. Winners will also be eligible for next year’s national CTA Driver of the Year contest.
