Reminder: CVSA Brake Safety Inspections Kicking Off Next Week

Share

This year’s Brake Safety Week inspection campaign is next week (Sept. 6-12).

Throughout North America, commercial vehicles are inspected at road side by US state,  federal and Canadian provincial agencies, with an emphasis placed on brake components.

According to CVSA, inspectors will look for “brake-system components to identify loose or missing parts, air or hydraulic fluid leaks, worn linings, pads, drums or rotors, and other faulty brake-system components.”

CVSA’s Brake Safety Week is part of the week-long Operation Airbrake program.

Antilock braking system (ABS) malfunction indicator lamps will also be checked, and inspectors will check brake components and measure pushrod stroke where applicable, CVSA says.
