Peel holding Transportation Weekend to get Truck Drivers and other Essential Workers vaccinated
(Toronto, June 29, 2021) – To help drivers in Peel get their first and second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, Region of Peel is hosting a weekend Transportation Clinic on July 17th and July 18th. The clinic will be open to employees in the trucking, taxi, and bus industries, as well as UBER drivers.
“The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) would once again like to thank the Region of Peel for their leadership and commitment to working with the trucking industry throughout the COVID-19 crisis. This announcement is yet again another example of the Region’s commitment to our sector,” said OTA president Stephen Laskowski.
The clinic will be held at the International Centre, conveniently located at the intersection of Airport Road and Derry Road in Mississauga. The clinic will follow regular hours of operation and run from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Between March 2020 and May 2021 there have been over 100,000 reported COVID cases in the Region of Peel, and 2,000 of these cases have identified themselves as truck drivers (no distinction was made between short haul and long haul drivers).Vaccination is one of our best defenses against COVID-19, and it’s important for residents to get both their first and second dose to protect themselves and their loved ones.
In the coming days, Region of Peel will share the registration information for this clinic. For more information on COVID-19, please visit the Region of Peel’s website. OTA will also provide updates to its members on registering for this clinic at a later date.
