Service levels need to improve, OTA adds
OTA staff have been working with MTO and Service Ontario with the sole focus of getting trucks and drivers moving.
There have been reports of delays with IRP processing for several weeks, while MTO assures industry it is working on resolving the situation.
While work is ongoing to resolve the situation, carrier members say the effort to date needs much improvement as the situation has created considerable challenges for industry. OTA has communicated the membership’s concerns constructively with government and will continue to do so until the situation is stabilized.
Understanding the goal is to keep things moving along, fleets submitting applications that are time sensitive are encouraged to use the exact language below, in the order it appears, in the email subject line of your application:
URGENT: IRP Account #(insert), Transaction Type (e.g. Add Vehicle)
In the body of your email, please add a brief description on the application and its time sensitivity, as well as a brief summary of the financial impact to your operation experienced.
This information will assist IRP processing to triage applications based on time sensitivity to lessen the financial impact to your operations.
OTA understands that fleets using this specific email tag line, with complete applications, are having success in having their applications processed.
OTA fleets that have already used this procedure and are still experiencing delays are encouraged to provide details to operations_safety@ontruck.org.
OTA will remain engaged on this effort daily with MTO and Service Ontario until the system has stabilized.
