The Ministry of Transportation announced the introduction of Electronic Cab Cards for the International Registration Plan (IRP) community effective January 1, 2019.
The IRP Plan is being amended to include the use of electronic images of cab cards (permits). All IRP member jurisdictions in the United States and Canada must begin to accept electronic cab cards as of January 1, 2019 in order to remain in compliance with the IRP Plan.
Commercial truck drivers will now have the option of presenting either an electronic image, original paper document, or legible paper cab card copes of their cab card. Documentation shown in an electronic image must be accessible and readable y computer, tablet, smart phone or other electronic device.
Regardless of the format (electronic or paper) the document must be accurate, valid, legible and be accessible on demand by request of law enforcement and/or the IRP Registrar.
