MTO Updating Logistics of CVOR Certificates Starting Late March

As part of the Ministry’s (MTO) modernization efforts, changes are coming to the issuance and distribution of CVOR certificates for carriers.

Going forward from late March/early April:

  • An electronic copy of the CVOR certificate will be forwarded to carriers upon approved application/renewal from MTO;
  • Carriers will be able to photocopy and distribute the CVOR certificate received from MTO*;
  • Carriers will need to place new certificates in vehicles;
  • CVOR certificates will now have an expiry date printed on them;.
  • New CVOR applicants will need to pay their non-refundable application fee before they receive a CVOR;
  • Carriers can choose to start receiving some correspondence via email (vs. Canada Post) from MTO*.
