OTA continues to work with MTO, the Canadian Trucking Alliance, Transport Canada’s ecoTECCHNOLOGY for Vehicles Program, the National Vehicle Weights and Dimensions Task Force and the National Research Council to further study environmental, infrastructure, safety and efficiency related aspects of 6×2 drivetrains.

The outcome of the research that will involve full scale testing of various 6×2 technologies is expected to wrap up in late 2016 or early 2017, at which point a solid foundation of knowledge will be available to provincial and federal law makers to aid in larger-picture decisions concerning vehicle weights and dimensions and greenhouse gas regulations.
