A new version of the Ontario Ministry of Labour’s Employment Standards Poster will be published (version 6.0) on May 1, replacing the current version (version 5.0).
The poster describes rights and requirements under the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA) and as per the ESA must be posted in the workplace where it is likely that employees will see it (e.g. lunch rooms, break rooms etc…).
If the majority language in the workplace is something other than English (and the ministry has published a version in that language) the employer must also post a translated version next to the English version. Carriers who are required to post this currently must switch to version 6.0 on May 1, 2015 to remain compliant with the ESA (Provincial Ontario).
How can I get copies of the new poster?
As of May 1, 2015, version 6.0 will be available in English and French at Ontario.ca/ESAposter and for the cost of shipping and handling from ServiceOntario Publications, 1-800-668-9938. Multilingual versions will be available at Ontario.ca/employmentrights.
