IRP Online Services Recommended by MTO and Service Ontario for Future Applications and Transactions

MTO’s Driver’s and Vehicle Service Branch, which has oversight of the IRP Program,  is encouraging a broader use of online options.  

OTA continues work with IRP officials to stabilize the system and to prioritize getting trucks and drivers moving that have outstanding applications.  

A message received from MTO stated: 

Speed Up Your Application Issuance with IRP Online Services

  • For any future applications, we recommend carriers to use the free, convenient, secure IRP online services to expedite processing times. By providing accurate information, using this channel will help you get what you need faster! 
  • Benefits of using IRP online services:
  • Complete Registration and Payment Online: Avoid the hassle of manually preparing and mailing/emailing forms and pay directly with your Canadian credit card.
  • Faster Service: Quickly handle transactions such as fleet renewals, adding vehicles from your fleet, and replacing plates.
  • Check Transaction Status: Monitor the progress of your transactions online.
  • Save Unfinished Applications: Save your work and return to it at any time.
  • Step-by-Step Instructions: Access detailed guidance to help you complete transactions.
  • 24/7 Availability: Use online services at your convenience, anytime.

To get access to an online services account, carriers will need to complete the application form and contact the Ministry of Transportation IRP Program Office at irp@ontario.ca or 416-235-3923.

Language similar to above according to the note will also be updated on the Ontario.ca IRP website in the near future.
