The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) continues to work closely with the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) as construction on the six-lane, 2.5 km long cable-stay Gordie Howe International Bridge continues. The highly anticipated opening of the bridge scheduled to occur towards the end of 2024.
The addition of the Gordie Howe Bridge, with its modernized infrastructure and processing, will expand trade capacity and connect the border to major expressways, eliminating congestion and delays as trucks no longer have to travel through the City of Windsor to and from one of North America’s busiest border crossing.
The WDBA has provided OTA with an update regarding progress on construction, which includes recent pictures from the site and status updates on construction of the port of entry; Michigan Interchange (I-75); updates on the design features of the bridge to accommodate processing and inspection; and new technologies and traffic management features that will be deployed.
