In a memo received late yesterday, MTO is notified industry members that previously granted extensions will not be extended past June 30, 2025.
In efforts to allow MTO and Service Ontario to stabilize the IRP system, an extension for all Ontario International Registration Plan (IRP) registered carriers with plates expiring between March 31, 2025, and May 31, 2025 was granted so that they would remain valid through to June 30, 2025.

No further IRP registration extensions will be provided.
That MTO is encouraging all IRP registered carriers with renewals that expire between March 31, 2025, and June 30, 2025, that have not yet renewed to submit their renewal applications as soon as possible. All IRP applications are now being processed within the service commitments posted at International Registration Plan | ontario.ca.
MTO provides a number of options for renewal applications. Carriers can submit their IRP renewal applications to Service Ontario IRP Processing via the following channels:

OTA will continue to monitor the IRP program to ensure all service commitment timelines are being met and that a multi-pronged strategy is in place to address surges in applications like those expected in the September-October timeframe.
Carriers currently experiencing issues outside of IRP service commitment timelines as renewals are completed or unusual circumstances are asked to email operations_safety@ontruck.org with details. Please include your IRP Account #, type of transaction (e.g. fleet renewal, add new vehicle) and date the application / transaction was initiated.
