Regulation 199/07 outlines the inspection criteria required for the daily inspection of a commercial motor vehicle including Trucks, trailers and converter dollies that, on their own or in combination, have a total gross weight or registered gross weight exceeding 4,500 kilograms.

Changes to Regulation 199/07 specific to trucks include:

  1. Cab or sleeper door must function corrected from “any door”,
  2. Clarification by providing examples of what is considered “damaged”,
  3. Clarification a tire with a leak that can be felt or heard is a major defect,
  4. Moved an inoperative parking brake from a minor defect to a major defect,

Trip Inspection reports available from the OTA Store (http://ontruck.org/ota-store/) will be updated to reflect the changes and will be available beginning in Spring 2015.

MTO will be providing an educational period until at least December 31, 2015 to provide time for commercial vehicle operators and drivers to use their existing stock of trip inspection reports.

OTA will keep the membership informed of additional educational outreach on this issue in the coming months.
