The ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable informs road users that the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge will be closed to traffic toward Vaudreuil-Dorion from December 22, 11:30 p.m., to December 24, 5 a.m. This closure is needed to carry out work on the damaged part of the slab in order to reopen a third lane as soon as possible.

During that time, the bridge will remain open toward Montréal. As of Sunday, December 24, 5 a.m., one lane in each direction will be open on the bridge.

Traffic management

On autoroute 40 westbound, between Senneville and Vaudreuil-Dorion:

  • Complete closure between boulevard des Anciens-Combattants and avenue Saint-Charles, from Friday, December 22, 11:30 p.m., to Sunday, December 24, 5 a.m.
    • Access to chemin de Senneville will remain open for users travelling to that area.

Detour routes will be marked with temporary signs. The Ministère warns road users who have to travel in the area to expect longer travel times to reach their destination.

The work could be postponed, extended or cancelled due to adverse weather conditions or operational constraints. It is recommended to consult Québec 511, which is a useful tool to plan trips, before hitting the road.

Workers and employers are encouraged to favour working from home and using public transit, when possible.

The Ministère thanks road users for their cooperation. It is essential to observe signing to ensure the safety of road users and workers.

A new Facebook page and X account dedicated to the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge are now available and provide information about the bridge maintenance and reconstruction project.
