Donald ‘Donnie’ Fillmore, 72, of Clairville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Stella-Maris-de-Kent Hospital. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Alfred and Althea (Brown) Fillmore.
Donnie was a truck driver for many years, and owned and operated Fillmore Trucking Inc and Atlantic Pacific Transport. Although he was retired from long haul trucking, he and Marie did not stop following the ways of the road. They often guided drivers with special loads safely to many destinations.
Donnie in his earlier years enjoyed attending Mark and Donnie’s hockey and ball games, he supported them in so many ways, whatever they were involved in became a passtime of his. Of all his dreams and desires, his grandchildren became second to none, they filled him with such pride “Papa” was his favorite title, and he wore it proudly.
Donnie was very active in his community. He served on the board for St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Clairville and the Rec Council. He attended Grangeville Baptist Church. He also served on the board for the Rexton Credit Union, was president of the Mud Bog Association, was president of the APTA and a member of the local snowmobile club.
When he wasn’t travelling by way of truck, he and Marie enjoyed many visits to Barbados, the Carolina’s and Florida.
Donnie will be greatly missed by his wife, the love of his life, his sweet Marie; his sons, Donnie Fillmore (Tammy) and Mark Fillmore (Erica); grandchildren, Autumn, Cole (Tiffany), Saige (Wyatt) and Ty; his beloved fur friend, Remi; Siblings, Allan Fillmore (Audrey), Connie Agnew and Neil Fillmore (Lisa); sister-in-law, Rose Fillmore; dedicated employee, Joey Jones; as well as his many nieces, nephews, extended family, colleagues and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Darlene; brother, Daryl; and nephew, Chad.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Wednesday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Service to Celebrate and Honour Donnie’s life will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 11:00 from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, (77 Hildegard Drive, Moncton). Reception to follow in church atrium. Interment will be held at a later date in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Clairville.
