In a notice sent to industry today, MTO’s DriveON program has identified details of a pilot program that will commence to test the capabilities for conducing mobile trailer inspections.
MTOs notice highlights this initiative aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for trailer operators, and reduce downtime by overcoming the logistical and capacity constraints of fixed-location inspections.
The pilot program will commence on August 1, 2024, and will run until December 31, 2024. MTO aims to include 10 participants in the pilot program to allow for efficient administration and evaluation.
“MTO is showing tremendous leadership and working at the speed of business in getting the pilot up and running. We asked that the pilot option be explored only a few weeks ago, demonstrated its need, and now it is a reality,” said OTA’s Sr VP, Policy, Geoff Wood. “The DriveON platform will revolutionize how annual safety inspections are conducted and we look forward to seeing the results of the pilot and the efficiencies it will bring to trailer fleets and the supply chain”.
