DriveON Information Continues to Flow From MTO, Parsons & OTA Members

Since the beginning of July, OTA’s Ad-Hoc DriveON Committee has been meeting weekly and sharing information updates as fleets and vehicle inspection centres (VICs) operationalize the MTO’s DriveON program.

Significant progress has been made and the information sharing among OTA members has shown the commitment the membership has in working with both MTO and Parsons to bring to life a first-of-its-kind, North America program to integrate annual safety and emissions requirements.

“The results of this joint government–industry initiative creates a level playing field, restores law and order – which is a key OTA policy that aligns with the government of Ontario’s mandate – makes our safer roads, our air cleaner,  and empowers law abiding fleets, shops and technicians to ensure there is accountability throughout the inspection processes and workflows,” said OTA’s senior VP, Policy, Geoff Wood.

OTA members not already engaged are encouraged to participate in the Ad-Hoc Committee. Registration is free of charge and can be completed by clicking here.

The committee gives OTA members an opportunity to connect with their peers, share information, best practices on the program, and feeds necessary discussions for OTA, MTO and Parsons in a constructive and collaborative framework. Readouts and detailed information are continually shared with over 100 committee members to keep on-boarding with the program on pace.

“It’s a minimal time investment each week, but as a witness to the discussions, I can say they have proven extremely valuable in advancing the program and the ability for the industry to work together and move forward in an expedited manner,” said Wood.

The educational enforcement period as well as the Mobile Trailer Inspection Pilot was spawned out of the ongoing Ad-Hoc discussions, which will provide critical support from MTO to the supply chain and allow the DriveON technology to be used to its full capabilities with accountability and oversight across the system.

The DriveON Help Videos on YouTube and the DriveON Portal also provide a host of resources as do the ongoing email updates and Parsons information sessions marketed directly to all Vehicle Inspection Centres on a regular basis.

Multiple DriveOn notices and articles posted over the past two months are also contained in the news center of the OTA website as an information bank for the membership.
