The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is holding an informational webinar on Wednesday, July 9, at 3 p.m. to explain how and why it plans on doubling agricultural quarantine inspection (AQI) fees at U.S. ports of entry.
APHIS recently extended the comment period on the proposed rule through July 24, 2014, and this briefing provides an additional opportunity for interested stakeholder to learn more about the rule and to ask questions, says the agency.
CTA and OTA have been vocally opposed to the increases. A legal opinion prepared for the Alliance by Gowlings even finds the fees to be inconsistent with NAFTA. Please consider the USDA’s invitation to hear about its proposal during this webinar and relate any issues or concerns.
