The Ontario Ministry of Transportation has extended the deadline for truck drivers and carriers to comment on the shortage of truck parking in Ontario. The survey will now be open until April 30.
The survey results will be used by consultants SPR Associates to study the hardships the lack of available parking causes for drivers in terms of lost time, lost earnings, and general aggravation. Results will help determine where additional truck parking is needed and what amenities truck drivers really need at existing truck stops (such as washrooms, showers that are available 24/7).
This strictly confidential survey also asks about specific parking needs and rest stops along major highways as well as secondary roads across Southern Ontario.
OTA asks that carrier members share the survey link with their fleet drivers.
