Don Anderson, founder of Don Anderson Haulage Passes Away

Don Anderson, founder of Don Anderson Haulage, passed away at his home July 1 at the age of 80.

In 2006, Anderson received the Ontario Trucking Association’s Service to Industry award. Don Anderson was also a long standing OTA Board member. Anderson is survived by his wife Maris and their four children, Michael, Elizabeth, Jane, and Susie.  Michael has been president of the company since 2002.

“Don Anderson was the embodiment of everything that is good about the trucking industry — dedication, hard work, honesty, a loving husband and family man, a sense of humour. Donnie, as he was affectionately known, had the respect of his industry peers and they had his. He and Maris, and you couldn’t think of one without the other, were a wonderful couple and an incredible team until the very end. Donnie was larger than life — I wouldn’t have wanted to be skating down his side of the ice — with that huge smile and even bigger presence.   In that sense he will continue to live on after his passing and when we think of him we will smile,” said OTA CEO David Bradley

Family will receive friends at DIXON GARLAND FUNERAL HOME, 166 Main Street N, Markham, on Thursday, July 6th from 2 to 9 p.m. and Friday, July 7th from 5 to 9 p.m. A Celebration of Don’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 8th at 11 a.m. at LE PARC BANQUET HALL, 8432 Leslie Street, Thornhill. A private interment will be held at the Stouffville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Jennifer Ashleigh Children’s Charity or St. Michael’s Hospital Ophthalmology Department would be greatly appreciated. Both charities were very special to Don.
