The Sales Representative contacts potential customers to sell the company’s shipping services. He/she obtains important information such as commodity type, # of loads, origin, destination, and any special service requirements, so that the service can be accurately priced. The Operations Manager ensures that the company has the right equipment, and the required tax and operating authorities in every jurisdiction to meet the customer’s needs. The Controller and the Operations Manager jointly determine the resource requirements, and price the services requested by the customer. The Fleet Maintenance team ensures that the required trucks, truck-tractors and trailers are mechanically fit and that vehicle markings meet all jurisdictional requirements. The Dispatcher selects a driver who is appropriately trained for the job, and the right equipment and then provides the driver with detailed instructions. The Professional Transport Driver ensures that his paperwork is in order, does a pre-trip inspection and plans his/her trip according to the customer’s delivery needs, and regulations governing his/her hours of work.
